martian transporter

i wanted to show mary how to use the big blue window to make a fancy opening cockpit thing, so it started off as a box with a big blue window. it eventually got a little rover that fit inside with a knight-rider style lift in the back. we're kinda short on wings (there's only one) so it ended up looking like a bug with wheels.

someone sink this boat

mary took a nap and i took over the lego table for a bit, ending up with this love boat that will forever be an old maid (it was quickly buried at sea).

at this point i had gotten a little more sense of what special blocks were around and decided to try a helicopter since i knew i could at least manage the big rotor on top. i also realized we had quite a few blue blocks available and opted for a color other than red (i like my blocks to match!) for once.

brick bungalo

not having much in the way of window/door blocks, i opted for a more rural mexican 'open air' design and then took it to the extreme by having a roof that flips open for star-gazing.

note the expert landscaping done after construction was finished.

al fresco house

not sure if "al fresco" is correct, but this house has a ventilated roof, not because it's cool but because it's all i could cobble together from the pieces we have. neighbors needn't bother with coming inside, they can just climb the steps to the rooftop observatory. women in skirts should take extra precautions.

going for a sunday drive

a bit of an old-fashioned ride perfect for a sunday afternoon. features extra safety features perfect for a family man like side-view mirrors. apparently you also climb into it with ladders, the kids will love that!

(not so) little red corvette

special features: it has a rear-facing observation bit and a working door.

we managed to find a second red door a little later in the afternoon but the car was disassembled as quickly as a 'borrowed' parent's car left in the city in any 80's movie.
